London, 13 October 2026 — Bringing a medicine or medical device to the UK market involves regulatory requirements, technical documentation and, ultimately, information that people must be able to understand and use. These tasks are related, but they are often managed by different suppliers and at different stages of a project.

GRC Health (Gibson Research Consultancy) and TranslationsInLondon (TIL) have formed a partnership to bring regulatory affairs support and patient-facing documentation services together for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and wider life sciences organisations operating in the UK.

The collaboration combines GRC Health’s experience in patient-centred research, health communication and regulatory support with TIL’s specialist human translation network, covering more than 220 languages. The work includes regulatory and patient-facing materials such as patient information leaflets, Summaries of Product Characteristics (SmPCs), labelling, instructions for use, as well as full-service linguistic validation of clinical outcome assessments. Where appropriate, comprehension and usability testing can help establish whether the information works for its intended readers.

“Translation is too often treated as an afterthought, planned late and budgeted last, and that’s where regulatory projects come unstuck,” said Valentina Vignolo Love, Founder and Director of TranslationsInLondon. “With GRC Health we can offer regulatory insight and human translation working together from the start, with fewer gaps between suppliers.”

“A document can be technically accurate and meet regulatory requirements without necessarily being easy to understand,” said Mark Gibson, CEO of GRC Health. “We often separate regulatory affairs, translation and patient communication, even though they are dealing with different parts of the same problem. The point of working together is to consider those connections earlier, rather than waiting until a document is finished to ask whether it makes sense to the people using it.”

The companies also co-produce Slow Release, a fortnightly series examining linguistic validation and life sciences translation. On 15 October, Slow Release Live will feature Mark conducting a live cognitive debriefing interview with a volunteer patient. The free online session is open to professionals working in the field, with optional charitable donations. Registration: [Eventbrite link].
